Jin Shin Jyutsu literally translated is the “Art of the Creator expressed through man of knowing and compassion.” It is a physio-philosophy that involves the application of the hands to gently balance the flow of life energy in the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu is similar to acupuncture without the discomfort of needles. Jin Shin Jyutsu is an Art which balances body, mind, and spirit, promoting deep relaxation and release of dis-ease and tension. Our bodies contain energetic pathways that feed life to all our cells. When one or more of these pathways become blocked, this damming effect may lead to discomfort, pain, or illness. Jin Shin Jyutsu opens up the blocks so that the body’s energy can return to its natural state of harmony.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Art of harmonizing life energy in the body. It brings balance to the body’s energies promoting optimal health and well-being and facilitates our own innate healing capacity.

According to ancient written records, which remain in the archives of the Imperial Palace in Japan, this Art was widely known before the birth of Buddha and Moses. It was passed down from generation to generation orally and gradually became dormant for over 1200 years until it was rediscovered in the early 1900’s by Master Jiro Murai in Japan. After clearing himself of a life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). This knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then shared with Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950’s. Mary Burmeister began teaching the Art to others in the early 1960’s, and today there are thousands of students throughout the world.

What's in a session?

A Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts an hour and does not involve massage or use of substances.  It is a gentle, yet powerful Art, practiced by placing fingertips (over clothing) onto “Safety Energy Locks” in specific combination.  Points on the spine, the fingers and the toes may be utilized as well.

The session begins with listening to the client’s pulse, which indicates to the practitioner information about the flow of energy and the current state of being of the client.  The pulse reveals what energy pathway needs to be unblocked in order to restore harmony, balance, and well being.

The treatment consists of gently holding “Safety Energy Locks” in various combinations until complete harmony of energy and pulsation is established.  The practitioner uses her hands as “jumper cables” of energy in order to recharge the “battery of life” enabling universal energy to flow through the body. Self Help will be offered at the end of each session.

THANK YOU ... doesn’t seen to be enough, to tell you how much you helped me in my Jin Shin Jyutsu Intensive.  I came to you having been told that I needed a Partial Knee Replacement.  My right knee, which was injured in a skiing accident in my 20’s was swollen and painful all the time.  My activity level became very restricted. I was no longer doing Pilates.  My daily, 30 minute brisk walks were a thing of the past.  The pain and inflammation was so bad that I didn’t even want to walk down the stairs - and then back up with my canine companions.

Then I had two Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions at day for 5 days with you- an Intensive. The result was nothing less than miraculous. Each day, the pain and swelling lessened. Range of motion in the joint improved. By the fourth day, my knee felt “normal” - just like my other knee. I was overjoyed and I am forever grateful to you, Maggie for being the “Jumper Cable” that saved me from needing major orthopedic surgery. Thanks even more because I’m enjoying a fully active lifestyle again, pain free. - J.S., Prescott  AZ
